Barbara Ann (Neu) Cook, age 75, passed away peacefully October 22, 2024. She was born June 11, 1949, and a 1967 graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School. Barbara dedicated her life to her family and her work as a compassionate nurse. As a mother, she taught her children the values of patience, kindness and love. Her family was her heart, and her greatest joy came from spending time with them.
For over 40 years, Barbara served as a nurse at Miller's Merry Manor, where her patients and colleagues alike admired her tireless work ethic and gentle touch. She dedicated her life to caring for others, bringing comfort and healing to all who crossed her path. Her deep commitment to her profession reflected the profound care she gave to her own family. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel seen and loved, and her loss will leave a void in the hearts of many.
She is survived by her children, Lisa (Steve) Wellman, Michelle Lewis and Jason (Stephanie) Cook; granddaughter, Michaela Wellman and great-grandson, Zaiden; brothers, John (Cathy) Neu and Ken Neu; sisters, Peg (Mike) Randolph and Pam (Roger) Sorg; and her sister-in-law, Pam Neu. Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother, Thyral (Bud) and Genevieve Neu; brother, James Neu; and her former spouse and close friend, Vollie R. Lewis, Jr.
A service to honor her life will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation.
