Obituary

Angela (Oldham) Ellis, 48, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 5, 1976, in Fort Wayne, Angie was a proud graduate of Harding High School, class of 1994, and lived most of her life in the city, with a brief period in Indianapolis. She earned her associate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and dedicated her professional life to GTE, excelling as a manager. Angie was a loving mother to her three daughters, Ariana, Ashley, and Anesa. She was also a cherished grandmother of five. Although she faced challenges in her personal life, her love for her children and family remained unwavering. After relocating back to Fort Wayne for support during her battle with multiple sclerosis, Angie continued to demonstrate remarkable strength and resilience. Diagnosed at the age of 20, she fought valiantly against the disease for 28 years, facing her diagnosis with fierce determination and a feisty spirit. Known for her athleticism, Angie was compared to Charles Barkley on the basketball court and dominated in baseball and volleyball as well. In addition to her physical prowess, she was celebrated for her vibrant personality. Angie was the life of the party, always laughing, dancing, and spreading joy wherever she went. Kind-hearted and always willing to help others, she touched the lives of many with her warmth and humor. In the years following her diagnosis, she approached her challenges with feistiness and fierceness, but as time passed,
she embraced a calmer more gentle demeanor filled with kindness, humor, and acceptance. Angie is survived by her mother, Theresa Oldham; father, James Oldham; sister, Melissa Clopton (Kevin Clopton); brother, James Oldham (Courtney Oldham); her beloved daughters, Ariana and Donel Johnson, Ashley and Sanjay Thompson, and Anesa Ellis; her grandchildren, Nyomi, Ivory, Keith, Ailah and Zahrah and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death and greeted on the other side by her grandparents, Marian and James Oldham; Aunt Mary Ann and Aunt Flora; uncles Mike and Frank; and cousins Little Mike, Little Michael, Austin, Kari, Zaylen, and Jourdan, as well as niece Tierra. Angie will be remembered not only for her strength and resilience but also for her warmth, humor, and unwavering love for her family. A celebration of her life will be held at Fairhaven on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4-6 PM, with a service at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the GoFundMe created by Angie's daughter, Ashley Ellis, titled "Join Us in the Fight Against MS Today," which supports multiple sclerosis research, honoring Angie's brave fight against the disease. Rest in peace, sis. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
