Allen Homer Leatherman, 91, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 18, 2026. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Homer and Goldie Leatherman. He married the love of his life, Mildred (Schaper) on October 17, 1953. A devoted man of faith, Allen lived a life of service, a commitment that defined his decades-long career at Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company. As a founding member of the Garrett Church of the Nazarene and a committed supporter of both Lake Avenue and Grace Point Churches of the Nazarene, his spiritual life was his cornerstone. Allen found joy in woodworking, fishing, and golf, and cherished the winter seasons he and Mildred spent among friends in Fort Myers, Florida. He leaves a profound legacy of integrity, Christian leadership, and kindness, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Allen is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mildred Leatherman; children Gregory (Dianne) Leatherman, Renee (James) Day, and Brian (Cathy) Leatherman; grandchildren, Joe (Brianna) Platter, Ayren (Josh) Keller, Bethany Day, Nathan (Chelsea) Day, Jenna (Trevor) O'Meara, Callie Day, David (Aleah) Wortsman, Mia Leatherman, Ryan Leatherman, and Evan Leatherman; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Goldie Leatherman; brothers, Roland Leatherman and Kenneth Leatherman; and son Randall Leatherman.
A public visitation will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, located at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene. The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 26, 2026 at Grace Point Church at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until the service.
