FairHaven's Mark Scheidt Talks Pre-Planning at Senior's Health FairJune 7, 2018, 9:36 am

FairHaven Funeral Home partner Mark Scheidt greeted attendees of the 2018 Senior Games Health Fair on Thursday at the Community Center in Fort Wayne.

The fair is staged annually in coordination with the opening of the Senior Games and to celebrate seniors' health. FairHaven is a sponsor of the event, which began on June 4.

Scheidt was joined by FairHaven staffers Amy Wade (pictured below) and Lillian Maurice, a pre-need counselor and veteran athlete who played a significant role in arranging the company's participation in the fair.

In an interview, Scheidt, who joined FairHaven recently, had much to say about how planning for the future and taking reasonable steps to make one's wishes known can be a great advantage.

"Health is on the forefront of most senior's minds," Scheidt said. "If they're fortunate to be healthy, they want to maintain that. If not, it's important to make important decisions in advance if possible. That's why we talk to seniors about their options."

FairHaven Funeral Home offers pre-need arrangements that effectively lock in the cost of a funeral at today's prices. Clients also get the opportunity to express their wishes, which together provide clarity and financial relief for families.

In celebrating continued health for our elderly population, the FairHaven booth featured an interactive fishing game that provided healthful snacks to participants.

They were also entered into a draw to win two gift cards for Don Hall's, valued at $50 each.

"Sober as it may seem, seniors demonstrate a lot of grit and wisdom, laughing off the small stuff and confronting reality every day," Scheidt said. "It's not just the athletes."

The fishing competition generated some friendly fun and physical movement. Gift cards will be awarded at the conclusion of the fair and games on June 26.

FairHaven Funeral Home is locally owned, reviving a Fort Wayne tradition of family-friendly attention and exceptional value. We also live in and care about our community.

Highly Respected Local Funeral Directors become Partners in FairHavenMay 25, 2018, 8:53 am

Fort Wayne, IN – FairHaven Funeral Home, an affordable end-of-life-care provider, has entered into an ownership agreement with four highly respected Fort Wayne-area funeral directors.

Joining FairHaven today as co-owners are (l-r) Britton Claghorn, Mark ScheidtJarod Steffen and Lucas Glessner. The quartet of experienced funeral directors are well known to each other and many families throughout the Fort Wayne area, as they have practiced locally for many years and been involved in numerous organizations.

“We’re very pleased to have Jarod, Mark, Britton and Lucas join us and strengthen our operations and outreach,” said Paul Haarer of FairHaven Funeral Home. Funeral service in Fort Wayne has traditionally been known as “locally owned” and today FairHaven upholds that distinction. “We combine locally owned, local service, and the best funeral value in Fort Wayne,” Haarer added.

FairHaven Funeral Home has been providing top-tier service to families since 2016. The funeral and cremation provider has created a unique environment by bringing a fresh, contemporary feel to their facility. Additionally, FairHaven typically saves consumers as much as 40 percent when compared with similar services offered by other Fort Wayne funeral homes.

“Fort Wayne is our home. The city continues to grow and change, but its traditional values and strong families remain the same,” said Mark Scheidt, a funeral director for 28 years and father of four. “My partners and I bring the excellence and love of service that Fort Wayne deserves.”

Jarod Steffen, a licensed Funeral Director for 14 years, has served the Fort Wayne area for a decade. Steffen is actively involved in his church community, and he is a supporter of the Leo- Grabill Little League and Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. An avid runner, he also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
